The library

The library was a stone's throw away from the city centre
Amidst the chat-waalas and an array of parked cars, it stood.
The people there somehow always had a stoic expression
As if too scared to smile, lest they lose themselves.

The library smelt of all things wonderful
Books old and new and also of snacks I never tasted.
It smelt like my summer vacations
And most importantly, it smelt like happiness.

The library watched me grow.
From a baby faced baby to a moustache sprouting teen.
From kid's section to the adult's section.
From an 'umm...' to an 'uhhh..?'

The library still stands there.
I don't.
I have moved cities in search of lovers
But was that the best romance?
